Why consider medically supervised weight loss?

Although your body is designed to take in and use the nutrients you ingest so that you stay at a healthy weight, for many men and women, an imbalance in one or more body systems can make it difficult or nearly impossible to shed excess weight.

Many times, these physiological or metabolic imbalances result because of more than one health or wellness factor, such as:

  • Chronic stress
  • Sleep troubles
  • Hypothyroidism
  • Dysbiosis (overgrowth of intestinal bacteria)
  • Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS)
  • Depression or another mental health issue
  • Perimenopause or menopause
  • A diet lacking important nutrients
  • Imbalanced gut microbiome

You can also struggle to lose weight when you don’t diet and exercise in a healthy way. Not eating enough and/or overexercising can cause your body to go into survival mode and in response, hold onto every calorie and excess fat cell to ensure your survival. This makes it nearly impossible to shed extra pounds.

How can the experts at Tim Martin M.D. help?

At Tim Martin M.D., our compassionate team members use a holistic approach when designing a customized weight-loss plan for you. We know the importance of understanding why you struggle with weight to ensure successful and sustainable weight loss.

Dr. Martin reviews your family and medical history, personal eating habits and preferences, and your daily routine, including how much exercise and physical activity you get regularly. Using an all-encompassing approach that includes your combination of BMI, bone structure, and muscle mass, he helps you arrive at a realistic and healthy goal weight.

As part of our medically supervised weight-loss program, the Tim Martin M.D. team takes advantage of a three-phase plan created by medical experts: the Ideal Protein Diet. The Ideal Protein plan approaches weight loss using ketogenic principles, education, and nutritional support.

How does the Ideal Protein Diet work?

The Ideal Protein Diet tackles weight loss in three unique phases, beginning with Phase 1, the initial weight loss phase. During this phase, you and your Tim Martin M.D. team member create your eating and supplement plan.

The Ideal Protein Diet takes the guesswork out of weight loss by making it simple and convenient. You don’t have to worry about learning new recipes or spend countless hours preparing meals. The healthy, premade Ideal Protein foods provide all the calories and nutrients you need to succeed in your weight loss journey.

Here’s a look at what Phase 1 of the plan includes and how easy it is to follow:

  • An Ideal Protein breakfast
  • An Ideal Protein lunch with two cups of veggies
  • Dinner with eight ounces of lean protein and two cups of veggies
  • An Ideal Protein snack
  • Unlimited raw veggies
  • Any supplements recommended by your team member

You stay in Phase 1 until you reach your target weight. You then enter Phase 2, a four-week period during which time you work on moving from Ideal Protein meal replacements at lunch and breakfast to whole foods with carbs at breakfast and whole-food proteins at lunch

From Phase 2, you enter the final phase of the program — the maintenance phase (Phase 3). Phase 3 is a year-long period that supports you in keeping the weight off for good as you begin to enjoy more freedom with your food choices.

The focus on this phase is learning principles that will serve you for the rest of your life as you begin to build in planned dietary indulgences and learn how to consider macronutrients in your food choices, so you get results that last a lifetime.
